This event promises an evening of community, celebration, and a shared commitment to fostering inclusivity.
The Story Behind the Inclusion Cocktail
A highlight of the evening will be the unveiling of the 'Inclusion Cocktail,' a unique creation by Underground Spirits. This specially curated drink symbolises the power of diversity and unity. The concept was born from the recognition that individuals with Down syndrome and intellectual disabilities often encounter barriers in social settings, including dining and nightlife experiences. Studies have shown that many people with disabilities feel isolated and excluded from activities like eating out due to accessibility issues and negative attitudes from staff.
The Inclusion Cocktail aims to challenge these norms by offering a beverage experience that is welcoming to all. Crafted with meticulous attention to detail, every aspect of the cocktail has been designed to engage the senses without overwhelming them. The drink is quieter to prepare, calming to hold, and smooth to sip, using Underground Spirits' Caramel Vodka as its base. The ingredients—Caramel Vodka, Rhubarb Liqueur, Blood Orange Syrup, fresh basil, lime, ginger beer, and a dash of bitters—were chosen not only for their harmonious flavours but also for their sensory properties. The cocktail is shaken gently without ice to minimise noise, stirred to the perfect temperature, and served in a way that ensures comfort for everyone. Additionally, a mocktail version is available, ensuring that non-drinkers can enjoy the same delightful experience.
